This evening was the day to lay up the 3 layers of 8oz. glass cloth to the nicely shaped filet. Jim Andrews came
to help me with this since I have no real skill in this area.
We cut 3 strips of 8oz. glass about 6" wide on a diagonal and about 68" long.
Then laid up one strip on 3 mil thick plastic and wet it with 2 1/2 pumps from the West System Epoxy.
Then covered it with another layer of plastic.
Using a small plastic squeegee we spread the Epoxy as thin as we could.
Then using an yardstick I marked a pattern of 2 3/8" x 58" with a Sharpie.
Then cut out the pattern using a Razor Roller Knife.
Then Jim wet the surface where we were going to lay the strip with a small sponge.
We then removed the top layer of plastic and starting at one end carefully laid the strip in place along the top edge
of the tape. Allowing the strip to bunch up along the top edge at even intervals as we moved across the curve.
After the strip was in place we then carefully removed the last layer of plastic.
This is were Jim did his magic with his little sponge!
Starting on one side and moving towards the middle.

Look at that glass! Unbelievable! No way could I have made it look so good.

Then he started on the other side moving towards the middle.
We then repeated this process 2 more times to get 3 layers of glass put in place. The next 2 layers however were
cut wider to 2 1/2" so it would "feather" at the forward edge.

He wanted to add Dacron but insisted I cut a whole slew of them into 4" strips. Unlike I did earlier on my filler. ????
Here once again I'm learning from others. I would have never thought to do this.

And again he uses his little magic sponge.

It looks marvelous! I can't wait to remove the Dacron and see the result.
Thanks for taking to time to help me Jim. It won't be forgotten man.
