Today was the Canopy Latch assembly job.  Riveted the hinge bracket on.

 

Added the links and tapped the push rod.

 

Laid the template on the skin from the plans and punched the rivet and slot locations. 

 

Used layout die so I could scribe the slots onto the skin.

 

I ended up clamping a 1/2" piece of steel angle to use as a guide to cut the slots.  My Dremel cutoff wheel

followed the steel much better than trying to freehand this.  Lets put it this way.  One slip and one would

not be happy!  I managed to get it done without incident.  The final shape was actually done with a roll of

Aluminum Oxide emery cloth.  It cuts relatively fast with pressure and quite slow with light pressure.

 

For some reason I didn't have enough .063 3/4" Aluminum angle to make the bottom mount.  Rick Smith

brought me some and I'll finish this tomorrow.
