I am using the 60 amp internal regulated alternator that Vans sells along with the mounting kit.  The parts included in this kit are very nice aluminum.

As with most engines and there differences it is necessary to align the pulleys by whatever means works best.  I needed the alternator moved

rearward about 3/32" for both pulleys to line up properly.  I decided to take my mount out to my friend Teds house to have him slot the 4 holes the exact amount.  Here is where the mount normally was before slotting the holes.

 

 

This is the position the mount will be bolted.

 

 

I then bent the tensioner bracket to match the alignment perfectly.

 

 

Here it is mounted and after installing it I decided to put the forward bolt in from the front side so that the bolt would clear the belt.

 

 

In Vans kit, they give you a small piece of 1/4" plate to make a support that ties the alternator to the starter.  Again, shown here, the bolt on the left was installed from the front after this picture was taken.
