Firewall Forward Section

12-24-05        Install Engine mount on firewall.

12-27-05        Engine arrives via courier.

12-30-05        Installed Exhaust and checked Carb/Cable alignment.

01-01-06        Installed valve cover cork gaskets with Silicone Gaskets.

01-02-06        Started working on the "BAFFLING BAFFLING"

01-14-06        Swapped the gascolator out from the Vans to the Andair. Installed Heat Muff, Tach Cap and new Throttle Cable.

01-15-06        Installed Exhaust hangers and fitting for Fuel Pump breather.  Installed Andair Oil Separator and Water Trap.

01-21-06        Made a few Steel Braid hoses for fuel supply and pressure.

02-05-06        Fitted Alternator and machined mounting bracket.

02-20-06        Drilled all Engine control cables through firewall and installed heat shields.

03-08-06        Baffling almost near completion.  This page is HUGE!  Lots of pics!!!!

03-16-06        Cut and installed all angle for attaching plenum top.  Molded upper Cowling with single layer of glass.

03-18-06        Carbon Fiber lay up marathon featuring Jim Andrews.

03-19-06        Trimmed basic shape of new Carbon Plenum top.

03-23-06        Began mod to upper plenum.  Adding inlet ramps so that the transition between the cowling

                     and baffling will be seamless.

03-28-06        Completed the right side ramp and ordered PTM-W High Temp Epoxy.

04-01-06        Formed left side ramp and installed Stainless Steel wire pass throughs with gromments.

04-04-06        Painted plenum part with Enamel to aid in mold release.

04-07-06        Installed Spark Wire insulators and formed Plenum Mold.

04-10-06        Layed up first new Plenum part using the new Mold.

04-12-06        Trimmed new Plenum, sanded edges and drilled holes.

04-13-06        Received new Ed Sterba Prop bolts and crush sleeve from Saber Manufacturing.

04-23-06        Machined Copper shims for CHT probes and installed EGT probes.

05-01-05        Added extensions to forward baffling, made Oil Cooler hoses and attached Oil Temp Sensor wiring.

05-03-06        Primed completed baffling.

05-04-06        Painted completed baffling.

05-09-06        Primer attachment line and fitting arrived from Superior Air Parts.

05-10-06        Fitted Air Box base plate and aligned filter base plate.

05-13-06        Built new Air Box top plate and glassed filter cover and carb inlet duct.

05-14-06        Installed Heat Muff valve.

06-04-06        More work on Airbox, installed manifold pressure fitting.

06-05-06        Installed Carb Heat flange on airbox and cable.

COWLING Section

01-22-06        Began upper cowling installation and trimming.

02-04-06        Fabbed the flange that mount Camlocs for the upper Cowling.

02-11-06        More work on flange for Camlocs from MilSpec.

02-16-06        Installed lower cowling and hinge material on both sides.

02-22-06        Assembled lower Cowling support bracket and installed.

06-22-06       Added Super Fill and a layer of glass to inlet hole  (balloon trick)

08-05-06        Trimmed aft end of Cowling to provide Spinner clearance.

08-06-06        Installed CamLocs and trimmed aft edge of new Spinner.

PROP and SPINNER

06-10-06        Installed Saber Manufacturing spacer and Ed Sterba Prop.

06-13-06        Made pattern of prop hub and cut spinner for initial fit.

06-17-06        Drilled spinner to mounting plates and added rear covers.

07-30-06        Doug Reeves from Vans Airforce . Com donates a piece of his "Flash"

PLENUM PROJECT

07-03-06        More R&D with Plenums, this one was a test of vacuum bagging using glass and Kevlar.

WHEELS AND FAIRINGS

07-06-06    Installed tires on wheels and wheels on gear.

08-20-06    Right Wheel Fairing fitment.

08-21-06    Left Wheel Fairing fitment and alignment of both with Fuselage.

08-22-06    Drilled  last mounting points on rear Fairings.

08-26-06    Reinforced mounting points and balanced Main Wheel Fairings.
