I figured getting these tips fitted, glassed, riveted and filled would be better now than later.
Besides it will be a few weeks till the rest of the QB stuff gets here.
Rick Smith came by last week and helped me adjust both elevators and set a few rivets . We adjusted the
rod ends in order to close the gap between the HS and the elevators and still get the recommended throw
on both sides. Meantime I was drilling out a bad rivet only to have the drill go completely through the rivet
and through the hole opposite the rivet and a good 1/2" into my finger tip. Since there are no gory pictures.
Imagine the drill bit almost coming out through the top of my finger near the fingernail. One word....
OUCH.
Heres the left HS tip.

This is the right elevator. Filling the gaps and shaping will soon come.

I plan on enclosing all parts and leave them hollow. I used a piece of cardboard here to lay the glass cloth on.

I am using West System 105 Epoxy Resin and 206 Hardener from Aircraft Spruce. This was Jim Andrews
recommendation. Using the pumps to dispense it makes mixing the proper amounts a no brainer.
1:1 pumps and you can mix any amount you want quickly and without any mess.

Mixed the Epoxy and soaked the glass and then added some cotton fiber to thicken the mix and then added
it to the top and edges. Covered it with plastic wrap and leveled it with a small block of wood. It should
come out fairly smooth.

This is the top rudder cap and it was too wide at the top so it was sliced in the middle and sized more narrow.
