Finally got my Cowling replacement from Vans with scoop already installed. So I installed the Prop adapter and
back plate.

I just placed it on top to get an idea of what it would look like.

Then I marked a line 2" from the foward edge of the Firewall and sides.

I put the two halves together and place the backplate in place to adjust the halves so that I had a perfect circle for the spinner.

I traced where the lip was on the lower cowling so that I could see where to trim back the top cowling so it would match.
When I got the desired shape I marked where to trim the inlet overlap areas away right where the lip line was on the lower cowling.

I then cut them with the cutoff wheel on my die grinder.

Put the two halves back together and when I got the best fit I could I clamped them together and drilled 2 of the 3 #40 holes as per
the instructions.

I marked a line to reference to keep it centered after clamping into place.

And another horizontal line to keep the height set properly. This photo was taken looking own and is why it appears they do not line up.

I put a 1/4" spacer on each side to keep the backplate to cowling spacing correct.

Making sure the cowling was centered on the aft end, I marked the line 2" forward of the line drawn before on the turtle deck.

Then I cut it with the cutoff wheel and sanded exactly to the line. It fit pretty darn good the entire width.
